Our client, a cutting-edge drug discovery contract research organisation, is seeking an experienced Lead Pharmacology Scientist join their dynamic team. You will be working with a group conducting high quality pharmacology studies in the areas of CNS, Metabolic (obesity, diabetes), Inflammation and DMPK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and design in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate drug efficacy, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD) in animal models
- Develop and implement in vivo study protocols to ensure high scientific standards and regulatory compliance
- Provide strategic guidance on experimental design, data interpretation, and project timelines
- Experience of surgical procedures (eg vessel cannulations)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including toxicology, medicinal chemistry, and regulatory departments to progress drug candidates through the R&D pipeline
- Mentor and supervise junior scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
- Ensure all in vivo work complies with ethical regulations and industry best practices
Requirements:
- BSc or equivalent in Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
- Proven experience (5+ years) in in vivo pharmacology within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Thorough understanding of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
- Extensive experience in an In-Vivo work-related background
- Expertise in the design, execution, and interpretation of in vivo studies, including knowledge of animal models of disease
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of leading teams in a research setting
- In-depth understanding of drug discovery and development processes
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
