Salary: MPS 1 - UPS 3

We are currently recruiting for a residential primary school that caters to pupils aged 5 to 11 years old. Their students have educational statements for social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Currently, all of their pupils are boys - they board at the school from Monday to Friday during term time.

Role overview:

As an SEN Teacher at the school, you will play a crucial role in helping children who have disengaged from school and learning. Your mission will be to develop strategies to manage their behaviour in the classroom. Their small classes, with a maximum of ten pupils, allow them to maintain clear boundaries and provide age-appropriate learning tasks. By focusing on ability rather than age, they aim to create a positive learning environment where students can succeed and enjoy their educational journey.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of individual students Collaborate with teaching assistants and support staff to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment Monitor student progress, assess their needs, and adapt teaching methods accordingly Foster positive relationships with students, families, and carers Encourage self-help skills and age-appropriate responsibilities among students Participate in school activities and contribute to the overall well-being of our students

Qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience working with children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEN experience preferred) Strong communication skills and empathy Evidence of good/outstanding school experience placements/observations Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies Passion for making a difference in the lives of young learners An ambitious approach to continual professional development
