Location: Richmond, B.C.
Pay Range: $90k to $110k/year
What's the Job?
- This position is a mobile role where the successful candidate will be driving around a designated domain, ensuring compliance with permit requirements and safety regulations for approved pipeline crossings and ground disturbance by inspecting work within the right of way and any third-party activities around the fuel pipelines.
- Directs contractors and equipment operators during excavation around pipelines.
- Assesses the impact of excavation activities on public safety, system integrity, and reliability.
- Prepares and issues stop work orders for unauthorized activities around pipelines and within transmission and intermediate pressure rights of way.
- Monitors and administers regulations and company policies for all permitted activities within pipeline corridors and any non-permitted work close to the pipeline
- Completes routine assessments of conditions along the pipeline ROW, including pipeline markers, ground movement, and unauthorized activities.
- Carry out Damage Prevention tasks such as pipeline patrols, responding to one calls, locating and marking pipelines, inspecting line crossings, overseeing excavations, and other activities impacting the pipeline.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities and coordinate work with employees and contractors
- Coordinate and communicate with outside parties including landowners, public agencies, contractors, utilities, and other pipeline operators
- Provide on-call support for areas of responsibility on a rotating basis
- Provides emergency response capabilities to right-of-way locations
- Maintain appropriate safety and operational qualifications through ongoing training
- Deliver on the operational aspects of the Emergency Management Program, including participation in emergency response planning and exercises.
- Support our ongoing goal of operational excellence, by supporting periodic operational document reviews, updates and enhancements
- As this is a growing operation, duties and responsibilities of this position are subject to change as deemed necessary by the supervisor
What's Needed? - High school diploma, general education diploma or equivalent. Trades and technologist accreditations are considered an asset
- 3+ years direct related experience in relevant utility or construction work an asset
- Certification in Ground Disturbance and/or Utility Advanced Line Locating would be considered an asset
- A valid driver's license and can provide a clean driver's abstract
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of stakeholders including the public, construction crews and municipalities
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in variety of software applications including spreadsheet software and engineering applications
- Proven capability in operating mechanical and electrical testing equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Team player, personable and a winning attitude
- Model and promote safe behaviors in all work environments, adhering to health and safety regulations, corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and pre-access drug and alcohol screening and background checks.
