Platform Engineer - Kubernetes Expert (Contract)
Location: United Kingdom Country: UK Rate: £500-550 a day Inside IR35
Role
- Provide full lifecycle support to our internal Kubernetes platform, including provision, upgrade etc.
- Develop tools and automations to manage platform infrastructure and services lifecycle.
- Improve reliability, quality, and time to perform IT changes.
- Provide operational support and consultancy for multiple software development teams.
- Measure and optimize system performance and resource utilization, and plan for future capacity.
- Build dashboards and visualizations to graph system health.
- Gather and analyze metrics from cluster components to assist in fault finding.
- Balance feature fast-release and reliability.
Requirements
- Solid knowledge with practical hands-on of container and Kubernetes production support and surrounding ecosystems.
- Core competencies: Linux OS, Container, Kubernetes (Anthos) and Kubernetes components like Istio (Anthos Service Mesh), NGINX (as a Kubernetes Ingress Controller), Portworx (software-defined storage PVCs), ACM (Anthos Configuration Manager).
- Engineering skillset to manage infrastructure as code, using Shell languages (Bash), Python (preferred) or Golang, GitOps and pipeline.
- Experience with infrastructure support and operation automation following software lifecycle practice.
- Accept flexible working hours including work at weekend.
- Good written, oral, and reading in English.
- Preferably located in UK, working closely with the team based in India and China, and sometimes with others in the UK and/or US.
