Partnership Development Manager (Permanent)

Location: Southampton, Hampshire Country: UK Rate: Up to £56921.00 per annum
 

We've partnered with one of the UK's leading startup accelerator programmes as they continue to grow their team and operations. Associated with one of the leading universities in the country, this accelerator Programme helps university students turn their degree/PhD research into exciting startup business and launch into the commercial world. They've taken business from concept to Silicon Valley and from startup to 100-person strong companies.

This year, their plans are bigger and better than ever before, and as such, they are looking for someone to join the team. This person will play a pivotal role in managing high-impact research projects and supporting the launch of innovative tech startups. You will engage with researchers to connect them with mentorship, funding, and other resources necessary for launching successful startups. You will foster an inclusive startup community, helping founders navigate the challenges of commercialization and to scale their innovations globally. Most excitingly you'll mingle with some of the UK's top founders and have opportunities to attend top networking events in the UK and in the tech heart of the world, Silicon Valley.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate complex information effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience building and developing commercial partnerships and relationships
  • Proven ability to organise and host a range of high-quality business events and activities
  • Experience attending and networking at business events
  • An ability to develop innovative proposals to attract partnerships/funding
  • Experience monitoring and managing resources and budgets
  • Confident presenter happy to talk and present at events, meetings and conferences
  • Able to attend occasional out of hours events, currently 1 evening event per month and 1 international event per year

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in a theme relevant to the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences or a tech startup
  • Experience within Science, Engineering or technology either academic or commercial
  • Experience working within a technology or engineering startup or business
  • Knowledge of grant and equity funding opportunities for startups, spinouts and the commercialisation of university research
  • Previous experience taking university research to commercialization

Your time in this role will be:

Developing and managing a range of enterprise activities and events

25 %

Design solutions to meet client and other stakeholder needs, including development and delivery of relevant startup technology commercialisation initiatives and activities to support C-PIC

20 %

Building relationships and developing new links with internal and external stakeholders

15 %

Lead and deliver activities and in person events such as major international trade shows

10%

Support income generation, eg through developing and winning enterprise projects

10 %

Engage with your personal and career development initiatives in line with C-PIC 10% policy

10%

Contribute to C-PIC reporting including capturing data on impact from the programmes activities

5 %

Other Adhoc duties as allocated by the line manager

5 %
