Your new role
As the Maintenance engineer, you will be directly responsible for planned preventative maintenance as well as reactionary maintenance. This role is an almost exclusively mechanically based role operating on a DuPont style shift pattern (12-hour rotating shift patterns, with a week off every four weeks). You will work in a team of two, divided between mechanical and electrical specialisms, working towards a TPM mentality. You will be tasked with diagnosing causes of equipment breakdown with a focus on a "First Time Fix" mentality to ensure 24/7 availability of production equipment.
- Reduce equipment downtime.
- Ensure procedures, health and safety requirements are always followed.
- Using your initiative to carry out process improvements to improve equipment reliability.
- Detailed recording of equipment history on computer systems and complete documentation as required.
- Manage wastage to ensure it is kept to a minimum.
- Liaise with and manage Service Contractors as and when needed.
- Troubleshooting-Fault finding and diagnostics, equipment repair, getting equipment running efficiently
- Carry out planned maintenance schedules within a given timescale,
- Record all work carried out, and any further action required, together with identifying any future spares requirements
- Machine repair to assembly level-undertake workshop repair of machine components, conversant with circuit diagrams and the use of hand/machine tools, able to use diagnostic and test instrumentation.
- Design and manufacture- Identify needs for continuous improvement, carry out design and manufacture from drawing board to installation. Identify energy-saving ideas and report or implement them.
- Reporting and logging of tasks - Inputting information into a computerised maintenance system, recording all tasks and stores movements. Keep all machine drawings up to date, noting modifications
- Total preventive Maintenance -Advise and provide engineering support on TPM initiatives.
- Assist with complex/safety related tasks.
What you'll need to succeed - To be successful in this application for this Maintenance Engineer role, you must:
- Strong mechanical skills are essential.
- Be a time-served apprentice, electrical or mechanical
- A proven track record of maintenance in a factory setting.
- It would be highly desired for you to have worked with pneumatics
- Have some machining experience.
- The ability to collaborate with individuals at differing levels.
- Independent analytical thinker.
