Your new company
I am currently working with a Registered Building Control Approver and Building Regulations Consultancy who specialise in their services across the UK. As a Registered Building Control Approver they also provide Building Regulations Advice and Compliance services across various sectors. With their head office based inside London and working with clients throughout the UK.
Your new role

  • Provide technical advice through the preparation of reports and briefings on building safety, building regulations, dangerous structures and land charges regulatory issues.
  • Contribute to Council responses to government consultations and technical reviews in relation to building safety, building regulations, dangerous and temporary structures and land charges regulatory issues
  • Provide support to the Building Safety Regulator under Section 13 of the Building Safety Act 2022 in the regulation of Higher-risk buildings and enforcement of the building regulations.
  • Ensure full cost recovery for the Council in support of the Building Safety Regulator as set out in the Building Safety (Fees and Charges) Regulations (2023).
  • Ensure that 'restricted activities' are only undertaken by the Building Control Authority upon the advice of a registered building inspector with the appropriate class registration for the building type.
  • Ensure that the Council's building inspectors meet the requirements of the Building Safety Regulator in relation to competency assessment, training and development.
  • Enforce the building regulations within the Borough using powers under the Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Act 1984 to ensure public safety.
  • Investigate offences under Section 57 of the Building Act 1984, prosecuting cases as required.
  • Investigate unauthorised building work in the Borough resolving contraventions.
  • Serve Stop and Contravention Notices for breaches of the building regulations, prosecuting cases as required.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Membership of MRICS, CABE or similar
  • Minimum of five years post qualification experience, preferably in a Building Control environment
  • Class 3 Registered Building Inspector - Essential requirement
