Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract - 6 - 12 months

Based in Reading (Hybrid working)

Must hold active DV Clearance

£550 - £600 per day InsideIR35

Provide mechanical designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA) such that utilities, infrastructure, engineering processes, equipment and facilities are compliant with legislation, standards and requirements associated with engineering design throughout the facility life cycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver mechanical designs that meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation/standards associated with mechanical design engineering.
  • Application of knowledge to confirm designs are prepared which comply with relevant legislation, standards and requirements.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality, and be a great team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering designs that address defined requirements, across the full engineering life cycle, to a high standard.
  • Ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the life cycle, liaising with other discipline areas to ensure overall design intent is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure application of standards is proportionate and that engineering best practice is adopted.
  • Elevate areas of concern to the relevant Principal Engineer.
